چکیده
Objective The pathophysiology of idiopathic spinal cord herniation remains unknown. However, several different factors have been postulated, such as congenital causes (ventral dura mater duplication, preexisting pseudomeningocele, or other dural defects), inflammation, remote trauma, thoracic disc herniation. Herein, the diagnosis and surgical treatment a patient with caused by an intraspinal bone spur is presented along relevant literature review. Case presentation A 56-year-old male non-traumatic Brown-Sequard syndrome persisting for over 1 year. magnetic resonance imaging axis revealed ventral displacement in level T 6/7. supplementary thin-sliced computed tomography spine at same level. For neurosurgical intervention, 6 7 laminectomy was performed. cranial caudal end right paramedian defect visualized enlarged. Following extradural mobilization denticulate ligament transection, finally released. rotated closure performed continuous suture. recovered from surgery without additional deficits. patient’s postoperative gait, sensory, motor function deficits improved, further neurological deterioration prevented. Conclusion Since first description Wortzman et al. 1974, approximately 260 cases reported literature. In addition to causes, possible cause

A Rare Intramedullary Epidermoid Cyst of the Thoracic Spinal Cord: Case Report and Review of Literature
Epidermoid cyst in the spinal cord is a rare condition. It constitutes of only 0.6-1.1% of all spinal tumors. When they occur, the typical location is in the subdural, extramedullary space of the lumbo-sacral region. We report a forty-two -year-old female who presented with left extremity radicular pain and myelopathy. MRI of the thoracic spine, illustrated a focal fusiform enlargement of the tho...
متن کاملSpinal cord toxoplasmosis as an unusual presentation of AIDS: case report and review of the literature
Approximately 10% of patients with AIDS present with some neurological deficit as their initial complaint, and up to 80% will have CNS involvement during the course of their disease. Toxoplasmosis is the most common cause of cerebral mass lesions in patients with AIDS, but appears to be an uncommon cause of spinal cord disease. The incidence of myelopathy may be as high as 20%, with 50% of the ...
متن کاملSpinal cord herniation with characteristic bone change: a case report
Spinal cord herniation (SCH) is a rare disease characterized by herniation of the thoracic spinal cord through an anterior dural defect, presenting with progressive myelopathy. A case of a 69-year-old woman who presented with Brown-Sequard syndrome and a bone defect, in which an osteophyte created a hemisphere-like cavity with spinal cord herniation, is presented. The strangled spinal cord was ...
متن کاملType I Split Spinal Cord Malformation: Literature review, Case presentation and Surgical Technique
Background: Split Spinal cord Malformation (SSCM) is a form of spinal dysraphism in which any or all of the spinal cord, cauda equina, and filum terminale are divided by a bony or fibrous spur. There are two described types of SSCM, namely Types I and II. In Type I SSCM, there are separate hemi-cords contained in two dural sacs, separated by a bony spur; in Type II SSCM, there is a single dural...
متن کاملPosterior spinal cord herniation into an extradural thoracic arachnoid cyst: surgical treatment. Case report and review of the literature.
The authors describe the case of a 2-year-old boy who experienced progressive spastic paraparesis for several months. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed an extensive extradural arachnoid cyst at the T3-L1 levels and posterior spinal cord herniation at T3-4. Surgical release of the neck of the hernia and total resection of the arachnoid cyst were performed. The patient had good clinical recover...
